Fly Fishing   An angler's paradise, this Orvis endorsed fly fishing lodge is one of the most desirable places to fly fish in New Mexico and is one of New Mexico's best kept secrets. Fish 4 ½ miles of private stream and seven high mountain lakes teeming with trophy rainbows, browns and brookies. Never open to the public, this well-nurtured section of Cow Creek is a small stream, one of those tight shady marvels with riffles and deep pools, and a population of trout that average 16" - 20" in size and many larger. Cast close to willows or work a fly through pockets.  All fishing on Cow Creek Ranch's private quality waters is catch-and-release, barbless hook fishing, with the exception of the occasional fish that can be kept and fried for breakfast. Anglers fish at private stations, which they choose daily. The more adventurous can also trek up the valley to try out the waters of the surrounding national forest. Upon request, experienced guides offer careful instruction to guests of all levels, from beginners to seasoned anglers.

Sporting Clays Both addictive and challenging, sporting clays is often referred to as "golf with a gun." Instead of sinking a ball into a hole, shooters aim to break targets along a designated course. Families, men, women and children can safely enjoy this energetic sport.  Cow Creek Ranch boasts a most unique and challenging Sporting Clays range.  Enjoy the course's 13 stations tucked away in one of the ranch's most beautiful valleys.  We provide all necessary equipment for the course including ammo, protective eye wear, ear plugs and fine quality Beretta 391, 12 gauge shotguns.

Horseback Riding The best way to truly experience the ranch and its natural beauty is on horseback. Ride one of our fine string of mountain trail horses up the many trails which wander for miles through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. As you ride through lush green valleys, fields of native wildflowers, and groves of glistening aspen, keep your eyes open, as you will most likely encounter some of our local wildlife.  We welcome riders five years old and older.

Archery Challenge yourself with our 3-D archery course designed for all age groups. First test your skills with a bit of target practice, then travel the course through the aspens and tall ponderosa pines in search of the black bear, mule deer, wild turkey, coyote, and a variety of other targets of animals native to the area using the traditional recurve bow.

Jacuzzi Tub Unwind in our luxurious jacuzzi tub located on the south patio just outside of the main lodge. The jacuzzi can seat up to 8 people, and is perfectly positioned to enjoy an afternoon watching the fish rise on the lakes, or an evening star-gazing beneath the clear mountain sky.

Culinary Options Prepare meals yourself in a well suited commercial kitchen, arrange for catered meals from a list of local restaurants and caterers, or hire the services of a local personal cook or chef to prepare meals during your stay at the ranch. Chuckwagon dinners served and prepared from an authentic chuckwagon can be arranged.

Evening Entertainment In addition to the standard activities, such as playing a game of poker or sitting around the bar, fireplace or bonfire, guests can enjoy western entertainment with a local flair. Instrumental cowboy music may be arranged with a local musician.
